With a Masters in Audio Production from Westminster University (UK) and extensive international experience in Sound Engineering (live and in-studio), Production, Composition and Performance over the last 20 years, Vid brings a balanced perspective towards finding and achieving one's sound. His broad electro-acoustic understanding, and situation-specific, problem-solving capabilities have been sought out by many of the music industry's most cutting edge producers and performing artists.
Vid’s studio production career began in the UK in 1995 as an assistant engineer at The Dairy recording studios in Brixton, London. The varied projects at this establishment ranged from Real World artist recordings through to the mix production for Deep Purple for their Live in Europe 1996 album. His work later held him in such positions as studio technician at the University of Westminster's 9-studio recording facility and Head Technician at SubZer0 studios in South London. During this time he worked alongside many artists, engineers and producers including Al Fisch (Bjork, The Art of Noise), Charlie Francis (REM, Hi Llamas), Brian Rose (Robbie Williams, Longview), and Lewis Taylor.
Vid sharpened his live-music production teeth on the London venue circuit as a freelance audio technician and has grown to handle full production management and venue technical direction. His rich live-music experience led to a role heading the production of Ninja Tune's ZENtertainment tour and Squarepusher's Ultravisitor tour throughout North America in 2004. In 2005, Vid was approached by Amon Tobin to help develop the Chaos Theory surround sound system with which they toured Europe and North America on numerous occasions. In the years since, he has toured countless times supporting performing artists in achieving the potential of their live sounds.
Vid's session musician career saw him tour the UK alongside such artists as Fun Lovin' Criminals, Spooks and Nelly Furtado. It was this side of his musical career that led him to relocate to Montreal during the Don't Sweat The Small Stuff North American tour with Hip-Hop artist, Spek (Dream Warriors, Us3). His experience as a musician, in addition to his production work in both the studio and live arena, has given him a balanced understanding of the varying challenges an artist may face in the creation of his or her sound.
Be it as consultant, engineer or producer, Vid continues to be sought out with regard to acoustics, audio production, composition and performance strategies.
